Meta raises quest 3 and quest 3s prices due to ram shortage

Meta announced on Thursday that it is rolling out price increases across its full line of virtual reality headsets, a decision directly tied to soaring global memory chip costs.

Starting April 19, both storage configurations of the entry-level Meta Quest 3S will get a $50 price bump: the 128GB model will retail for $349.99, while the 256GB variant will be priced at $449.99. The premium Meta Quest 3 will see a larger $100 price increase, pushing its new official retail price to $599.99.

In an official blog post explaining the adjustment, Meta framed the change as a response to shifting manufacturing costs: “We are adjusting our pricing because the cost of producing high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly across the industry. A global surge in the cost of critical components — most notably memory chips — is impacting nearly every category of consumer electronics, and our VR headsets are no exception. To keep delivering the level of quality hardware, software, and ongoing support that users expect from the Quest platform, this pricing adjustment is necessary.”

The company confirmed that the updated pricing will also apply to all certified refurbished Meta Quest units. All official Meta Quest accessories, however, will remain at their existing price points with no scheduled increases.

Meta is the latest major tech corporation to raise hardware prices amid ongoing global RAM supply shortages, joining a group of industry peers that have already implemented similar changes, including Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony.
